The programme Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Big Data (E-Learning) is an online course intended to teach students in a virtual learning environment. The medium of teaching is English.

 This E-Learning Course aims to produce graduates with advanced skills and knowledge at the intersection of accounting and big data analytics, enabling them to excel in leadership roles within the field.  It will enable students to seamlessly integrate accounting principles with advanced data analytics to extract meaningful insights for financial decision-making. It can serve as a bridge to further education, such as bachelor’s degrees as it will provide a strong academic foundation and advanced skills that may be required for pursuing higher-level qualifications.

At the end of this programme, students will be able to: 

  • iDemonstrate a proficiency in integrating accounting principles with cutting-edge data analytics tools to extract meaningful insights for informed financial decision-making.
  • iExhibit ethical conduct in financial reporting and data management, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations, while also providing ethical leadership in the use of data-driven insights.
  • iApply data-driven insights to excel in strategic financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance evaluation, enhancing organizational financial strategies and efficiency.

Course/ Assessment Structure

The course will be delivered 100% by qualified and trained educators in a virtual learning environment. Students will typically attend live-streamed online lectures/lessons. For a more hands-on learning experience, the teacher will allow students to ask questions in real-time through webcam, microphone, or live chat. The teacher and the student will have regular one-on-one engagement similar to a traditional face-to-face lesson.  

The students are required to study EIGHT (8)  modules . Each module is equivalent to 15 credits for a total of 120 credits. Each credit is equal to 10 learning hours.

Delivery and Assessment
  1. The course will be delivered 100% by qualified and trained educators in a virtual learning environment. Students will typically attend live-streamed online lectures/lessons. For a more hands-on learning experience, the teacher will allow students to ask questions in real-time through webcam, microphone, or live chat. The teacher and the student will have regular one-on-one engagement similar to a traditional face-to-face lesson. 

    Self-paced (asynchronous) instruction will supplement the live online classes. Students can watch previously recorded lectures at their own leisure. The instructor will typically be available via email or text chat should the students require any clarification during the learning process. In the same manner, students will communicate with one another where they can discuss the module materials and work on any assignment allocated. 

    Students learn in a variety of ways and, therefore, should be expected to engage in different learning patterns (independent learning, group work, computer based workshops, class presentation, essay writing, etc.) 

    The teaching, learning and assessment strategy of each module has been designed to ensure that  teaching methods are appropriate for achieving the learning objectives of the module. 

    Assessments will be conducted via a robust online examination platform to ensure that online examinations are systematically scheduled, conducted and evaluated with integrity. 

    A wide variety of assessment methods will be employed and these may include: Time constrained examinations, open book examinations, assignments, presentations, peer assessment, projects, etc. 

Duration
    • This is a FULL TIME course and will run for eight (8) months. Delivery will be for 3 hours per day for 5 days every week for a total of 336 hours. Students are expected to complete the course in 12 months.  Minimum class size is 30 students. 

      Maximum candidature period for a student to complete the course is 16 months. 

Admission Requirement

NORMAL ENTRY 

1. Minimum Age: 18 years PLUS

2. Academic Level:

    • Obtained an Accounting Diploma from United Seas College
    • Obtained a relevant Diploma or equivalent qualification which has either a GCE ‘A’ level Examination or completion of 12 years of formal education as the qualifying entry requirement and subject to the approval of USC Academic Board.

3. Minimum language requirement:

Obtained IELTS 5.5 / TOEFL 500, or equivalent

ALTERNATIVE ENTRY

Mature candidate of minimum age of 30 with at least 8 years working experience

Target Students
  1. The programme is designed primarily for the convenience of students who want to pursue an Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Big Data. Thereafter, students may opt to continue their studies at UK, Australian and American universities and obtain their related Business degree.

    The target students are both residents of Singapore and learners residing in Southeast Asia and other countries as long as they meet the entry requirements of this online course.
