Advanced Diploma in Artificial Intelligence
Programme Overview
The Advanced Diploma in Artificial Intelligence is delivered on-site at USC campus. The medium of instruction is English. It focuses on cultivating students’ professional skills in the application of artificial intelligence technology.
Programme Aims
- Master Java programming, computer network, database principles, and Web development technology, and systematically master the core skills of software and Web system development.
- Be able to use mainstream machine learning libraries and tools to complete model design, construction, optimisation, and tuning, so as to solve data-driven engineering problems.
- Master natural language processing technology and image processing technology, understand core algorithms and be able to build, test and evaluate related models to solve practical application problems.
- Master embedded technology and application, understand embedded system architecture and STM32 principles, and be able to design and develop small embedded systems and modules.
- To be able to analyse and solve complex engineering problems, model and design solutions, and evaluate the effect of implementation.
- Develop lifelong professional skills and adapt to the rapid development of AI technology, and build a solid foundation for employment and sustainable development in the field of artificial intelligence.
Course/ Assessment Structure
The students are required to study eight (8) modules. Each module is equivalent to 15 credits for a total of 120 credits. Each credit is equal to 10 learning hours.

Delivery Requirement
The programme will be delivered through a face-to-face, classroom-based approach that promotes active participation, engagement, and collaborative learning.
For each module, a total of 42 hours will be conducted through instructor-led classroom sessions, enabling students to engage in lectures, discussions, case studies, practical exercises, group activities, and guided learning under the direct supervision of lecturers. These sessions are designed to facilitate the acquisition and application of knowledge while encouraging interaction among students and faculty.
In addition, each module will require 108 hours of independent learning and assessment-related activities. This includes prescribed readings, research, assignments, projects, reflective exercises, preparation for assessments, and the completion of both formative and summative assessment tasks. This component supports the reinforcement and application of concepts covered during classroom sessions while encouraging students to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and self-directed learning skills.
Assessment will comprise a combination of formative and summative assessments, as specified in the module syllabus. Formative assessments will provide ongoing opportunities for feedback and learning development, while summative assessments will evaluate the extent to which students have achieved the intended learning outcomes. These may include assignments, projects, quizzes, or examinations designed to evaluate students’ achievement of the intended learning outcomes.
The teaching, learning, and assessment strategy for each module has been designed to ensure that teaching methods are appropriate for achieving the module’s learning objectives.
Duration
The program may be pursued on either a full-time or part-time basis. The full-time modality spans a period of eight (8) months, with instructional sessions allocated three hours per day, five days per week, culminating in a total of 336 instructional hours. Conversely, the part-time modality extends over nine (9) months, with sessions scheduled two hours per day, five days per week, also amounting to a total of 336 instructional hours.
